Maya Lippman grew up in New York City. She became a fashion designer and traveled extensively throughout her career. During her travels she met many fascinating people who influenced her characters. She is passionate about LGBTQ, #MeToo, and Pro-Choice issues that she addresses in her novel.

This book has everything – especially great storytelling! So many things are so relatable as two friends grow up together and come into themselves as they enter adulthood. Such a slice of life of New York as the small town that it is to those who grow up there (or adopt it as there homebase), with a surprising and perfect resolution that hits the nail on the head. Highly recommend.

With its visual writing, this book has the quality of a movie. It’s lively and captivating. A few pages give you the feeling of being close to the protagonists and to really know them. I like the way they move to adulthood, their concerns, their secrets and their decisions. Last but not least, this book is also a great picture of Manhattan in the 80s. A very touching book indeed! Enjoy!

Well-paced debut novel

Two young women, friends from before high school work to keep their friendship while keeping their secrets from each other through their college years.Set in NYC, there is lots of ambience for Manhattan lovers. And the plot twist at the end will surprise and satisfy every reader.

I loved this book! It really showed how decisions made growing up can really shape you and help you learn and grow. I loved the characters relationships with not only each other but their parents, especially their mothers. Felt very real.

This is a fantastic book. It’s wonderful to see two characters grow up together, travel down different paths and at heart remain true supportive friends. I had to keep turning the pages to find out what happens next. Also, the cast of the supporting LGBTQ characters are all real, positive and engaged in happy relationships. The surprise ending works perfectly.

Maya Lippman captures the feel of growing up in New York City in the 70s-80s and how gritty it was. The relationships in Crossroads are heartfelt and hit home with me and my own friendships. I’ve even known guys like Jake! Fun read and I give it 5 stars!

Sweet coming-of-age

My daughter left this on her nightstand and I asked to borrow it and read. I like seeing the kinds of things she’s reading. It’s a very sweet, but not innocent story of 2 girlfriends that grow up on the UWS OF New York City. I’m glad she enjoyed it, I did too!
